We got off to a bit of a late start today, but with the short amount of time we had, we certainly covered some ground! First stop was to see if an awsome vintage light shop was still where it was two years ago when I bought my lovely lamp in my hallway, which I still love as much as when I first saw it...and yes, the Victorian Living Shop at Red Hill is still there in all it's vintage glory! This is the shop I will buy any lights I need for the new house...here are some pics. It is really old and tiny, but certainly packs the lights in! I LOVE this shop, just for the atmosphere...
Then we choofed off down the road to Paddington Antique Centre ~ which as I have said here many times is my favourite shop in Brisbane. On the way we got waylaid, as across the road is Estelle's Antiques which I have visited before but it was full of heavy, dark, expensive antiques, but the display out the front caught our eye as my sister has been looking for another bench for her hallway entry. She's slowly doing up her home and just got the hallway and lounge carpeted so we're not allowed to wear our shoes inside now. Don't mind taking my shoes off, but please, put something there to sit on while I take my shoes off! In the old days I could stand and get my shoes off, but I'm old and decrepit now, so a seat I need! So she's been looking for a bench. The following display got us in the door...
For some unknown reason I love old ladders, crazy girl! I also liked the table with old singer sewing machine sides. Would be lovely for an outside area.
I loved these old folding chairs. So tempted....
Anyway, my sister found the prettiest bench inside...for once she didn't think it to death and pulled out the wallet...quite an event, let me assure you! Doh, I realised later I forgot to take a shot of the bench she bought. I'll have to get one next week.
Then off over the road to the Paddington Antique Centre...I get so excited going in...what treasures am I going to find today?
I thought this set of pearl handled cutlery was a bit of a treasure. I controlled myself!
My sister was really excited about this bike...my brother had one just like it when we were kids...memories...I remember it was pink, tehehe! I'm now making a mental note to ask my mum why my brother had a pink bike...
And then of course, my favourite stall in my favourite shop...they had some really lovely things this time. Such a shame Dear One won't let me buy anything...I could have gone crazy here...
My niece, Rebecca, wanted her picture on my blog!
And you can't have Peter without Paul, so here is Amy as well...funny little bunnies!
And I'm not always a good girl...of course I had to buy something!
A little jar with lid...and one of my pretty roses from my garden.
Big spender! The little glass jar was $8 and the decanter was $12. Bargain! See, I'm not so bad! The little jar will be perfect for one big rose or some of my little ones, and the decanter will hold my cooking oil just perfectly and look really pretty on my benchtop.
And I was so excited recently, I got my first Nahema rose. I was so excited...my roses have really grown a lot this week, a couple of them have grown two feet higher! I really am loving the gardening thing!
Have a great week!

Hi Vickie, I just discovered your blog and enjoyed having a look around. I'm glad you bought something on your shopping trip! Your roses look lovely. I'm from the Riverland of SA where there is quite a drought at the moment but the roses are all doing exceptionally well. Many people are realising they have been overwatering them in the past! I look forward to reading your adventures regarding your house building.

Love it when you take us shopping with you !
Am at the other end of town sitting in a tall sky scraper building of chrome and glass, enjoying every minute of cream and pink and vintage.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Vickie
Sounds like you had a fabulous day out finding lots of wonderful treasures, love that light shop, could spend ages in there.
Those antique stores in Paddington are fabulous, that little trike was brilliant. It was funny to see some of my mosaic works in your photos at one of the outlets in Paddington Antique center. Your roses look wonderful that is my favourite one the 'Nahema' too.

Wowza, loved coming along on your shopping trip - must remember that shop if i am ever up in Brissie. Have not been to the antique mall for over a year but it was wonderful to revisit there via your blog. I absolutely LOVED that trike i am almost tempted to go up there! Am very happy your Nahemas are booming i told you they are like a weed. You should see mine after the rain, they would honestly be close to 10ft tall and i have lost count of the buds/flowers on them. They seem quite disease resistant too - the thorns are a killer though! You will have to buy the Nahema perfume (Guerlain) now. Mel xxx
