Last weekend, Dear One and I took at trip up to Toowoomba to find out a bit more about some materials to build our new house. We are currently sorting out all the details so we needed to work out our materials we want to use so they can do some calculations for us. So, off we went to the brick place first to pick the bricks and colour, and to check the price so we can make sure we're not spending too much money ...
Sorry about the brick in the middle - that's where it's supposed to have a plaque with the name of the brick on it, but it's obviously fallen off! We're going to have a dark grey roof with burgundy and white trims on the verandas (I think).
Next we went off to a new reclamation yard I found (who can resist those places) to check out prices of timber flooring ... geez, I'll tell you, that ain't cheap! $100 a square metre ... hopefully we can do better than that! Anyway, they had some other really cool stuff ... found some really nice tables with turned legs painted white, with natural timber tops. Of course I wanted to buy them all and Dear One threatened my life ... have I ever met a table or a bench I didn't want to buy!
I really liked the white legged coffee table, it was really quite plain, but the top was really rustic and I wanted it heaps. Dear One said no.
I was so busy taking the photos I missed the bucket and tub in this lot ... would have like to have had those ... they always look lovely in the garden with pretty flowers in them!
A cute rustic bench ... this was hard to pass up, but I have so many benches ... Dear One said no again ... no wonder I never go shopping with him!
We nearly did buy this old pump ... Dear One always teases me by saying how lovely statues will be in the front yard *eeek*... but he suggested a few weeks ago he wouldn't mind an old rustic pump and I like these, so this was hard to pass by, but since we probably won't get that far for another year or two it seemed silly to get one now ... although for sure when we do want one we'll never be able to find one again, that's always the way!
Afterwards we went up to Picnic Point to look at the view ...
We live down there somewhere in the Valley.
Then we stopped on the way home quickly for a quick squiz at Spring Bluff Station where in spring the flowers are amazing. It's really pretty all year round tho...
Santa having a little kindy rest before his big night Christmas eve ... a little bit of eccentric Christmas decorating ... love it!
My sister and I went to the movies and saw Australia and just loved it. It's had so much hype I didn't know whether I was going to love it or hate it, but .... loved it! Take the tissues tho ... my sister and I did our usual ... tried to pretend we weren't crying, then I just said, "Oh, bugger it! Give me a bloody tissue and let's just go for it ... waaaah!" She looked pretty relieved as well! Hugh Jackman ~ yum!
I have just found you, I live in Toowoomba and your blog is beautiful.

If you're still looking for wood flooring, and are willing to make a bit of a trip with a van, this ebay link should help you out.
100 year old oak flooring, cut into shorter lengths... it looks fabulous!

Great collection of photos, always fun when another blogger takes us shopping because it is safer from a distance. Santa in a hammock is too funny.
