The Faded Rose

I haven't been looking on the internet much since before Christmas as we have been having a lot of trouble with Telstra and email (someone is hacking into our account and stealing our downloads and Telstra has put us on the go slow, so it takes an hour for a blog to download, so we're moving to another internet provider ~ yay!), but lucky me I just found this lovely site called Country Living which is a magazine from the US and on it I found this gorgeously decorated home of Patti Silverman who has a bricks and mortar store and a website called The Faded Rose Limited.  She must save all the best vintage finds for herself as her home is absolutely beautiful.  Of course you would save the best for yourself ~ how many times did I buy something from my shop only to finish doing it up and couldn't part with it ~ half the furniture in my home was intended for my shop but didn't make it that far!  Have a look at these beautiful photos...

A to die for dining room ~ I just love the dark floors with the white ~ I so wish my floors were dark instead of light.  Geez, a woman is never satisfied! 

This picture drove me crazy ~ eyes left, right, up, down, everywhere trying to take everything in at once ~ I nearly went cross-eyed!  If this were my sitting area I'd sit there all day just luxuriating in the beauty of it!

This setting would look lovely on my new deck ~ hopefully going in at the end of this year!  I never find anything nice like this ~ probably because we don't get good stuff like this in Australia  ~ exactly why I shouldn't visit the US, I'd end up balling my eyes out 'cause I can't take all this good stuff home!

 

I wish there were more photos of this lady's home ~ I'm sure the rest is just as beautiful.

IKEA - Chaise Longue

My sister and I were at IKEA the other day to get some kitchen things, and we found they have some great new items for sale.  I don't like a lot of their things as they are too modern for me, but some things are just fabulous.  I bought a lovely white/cream plate set, and not a bad price either!

One thing I really loved was their new chaise longues.  You can buy them left or right armed and they were really comfy to lay on.  I want to enlarge my bedroom at some stage and I have always dreamed of a little corner in which to put a chaise longue or a comfy chair for reading and these are just the thing.

They were on special as well, down from $579 to $450 ~ can you believe it?!  You have the choice of a few different colours in the removable and washable covers:  white, pink, blue, beige, floral and black and white.  Not bad, huh!  A lovely white one with a couple of vintage cushions and a throw ...  mmm!

  

 

   

Bathurst

While we were away on our recent holiday, Dear One wanted to go to Bathurst as he is a mad keen V8 Supercar fan (Ford of course) and wanted to go for a drive around the Mount Panarama circuit.  I must say, I really enjoyed it myself.  It was pretty difficult to stick to the 60 kilometre an hour speed limit ~ I wanted to flatten my foot and race everyone who was in front of me!

Anyway, an unexpected highlight for me (besides pretending I was Craig Loundes racing around the race track) were the number of amazing heritage properties in the township.  Big wow, just driving around looking for a motel was an absolute pleasure!

My favourite ~ pretty house and perfect cottage garden.  This pretty was opposite our motel.

 

I'm so envious of the flowers in front of the cottagey houses ~ exactly what I tried to do last year in front of my lovely white picket fence, but of course the little so and so kid down the road kept stomping or stealing everything I planted.  These pretty gardens made me desperate to try again, but not likely I suppose until they move. 

 

 

  

Imagine what you could do with this house ~ my eyes popped when I saw it.  There were many, many other houses, and I certainly wouldn't object to living in Bathurst!
