When it comes to music I'm a full-on girl of the 80s! I just love all the boppy, happy, make you want to dance songs that came out then, especially from around 1981 to 1986! My sister and I laugh about it all the time ~ she's five years younger but we love the same music! I don't know whether it was just a great time for music, a great time in our lives or whether it's because that decade was my 20s and of course you got up to all sorts of stuff then, didn't you!
You look back and think oooo aaaah, how did I ever do that, but secretly you're glad you did! And sometimes you hear a song and your heart flutters and you realise at that time something fab was happening and somehow the song had attached itself to that memory and when you hear it the memories come flooding back with either a laugh or sometimes a sadness if something awful happened.
I loved the New Romantics era with the happy music and the clothes and the funny hair ~ oh, the mullets, we laugh now, but that hair was so much fun! People laugh when you say you love 80s music, but think about it ~ whenever you go to a party and there's dancing, practically all the music is from the 80s. That's about the time the world was changing for the worse I think, but we didn't know it. Back then we didn't have a worry in the world, people had manners and actually used them, kids weren't rude, we didn't have global warming and well, in Australia we had water!
Back then, you could turn the radio on any time and EVERY song was a classic, with only the oddest exception. Anyway, it isn't very often I turn on the radio now and hear a song that makes me want to shimmy, but there's a song out now which I just love, I keep humming the tune all the time, driving me nuts really, but it's so catchy so I thought I might share it!
I love the English way of naming their houses, so when we build our new cottage I'd like to name it in the cottage tradition. Our new cottage when we build it will be in Cricklewood Court (such a funny/cute name) in Fernrow Estate. I like both names, and Dear One doesn't have a preference. I'm not sure yet....this poll is open for a year...for a bit of fun, let me know what you think!
